Remember, the only choice is optimism, the pessimists never get it right.
After setting 3 new highs in the last 2 weeks, just like riding a rollercoaster, when it swings down, everybody notices. All three major indices lost ground last week. The DOW dropped 3.2%, the S&P fell 1.5% and the NASDAQ lost a fraction.
In my opinion the markets just seem to be flushing out the excess. That, combined with the options market falling on what is known as the triple witching last Friday, added to the drops. Also, we need to keep in mind that there hasn’t been so much as a 10% correction in the markets in a very long time.
As we see the economy emerging, the new normal is the workplace being redefined. I mentioned in one of my emails last year that, when we recovered from the shutdowns, new economic patterns will emerge. New industries will pop up and different methods of employment will come into vogue. As the attached article suggests, while companies are beginning to open up workspaces, employees aren’t exactly rushing back to the office.
Several years ago, I was in a coaching program called The Strategic Coach. One of the suggestions was to change the way those of us that are still working might want to look at our schedules. A suggestion was to program some enjoyment in our life. When I found the attached article “No-Regrets Lessons from a Man at Death’s Door’, I wanted to share it. Over the last year+, our lives have been greatly downsized. Hopefully we can add some enjoyable Bucket-List type items to the calendar.
As always, should you have any questions or wish to meet with or talk with me, please don’t hesitate to email, or call. Now, let’s all go out and have a super week.
